Cake fit for a ‘King’

Last night (Monday, November 14th) Larry King received a ‘testimonial dinner’ at the Friar’s Club honoring his nearly 55 years in journalism. They provided the celebrities and press, Palermo’s provided the cake.

Celebrities attending the dinner included Jon Bon Jovi, Joan Rivers, Donald Trump, Regis Philbin, Kathy Griffin, Matt Lauer, Wolf Blitzer, Tony Bennett and Katie Couric as host.

With TV journalism notables like Wolf Blitzer, Matt Lauer and Katie Couric, overall the atmosphere resembled more a toast to Larry King’s accomplishments. But in line with the tradition of the Friar’s Club, the likes of Joan Rivers and Kathy Griffin made the toast at times seem more like a roast.

Larry King’s personalized cake microphone and custom cake podium to commemorate one of his last ‘broadcasts’ to fans and friends. Palermo Bakery once again showcased their creative artistry in pulling off what for most is the first cake podium they’ve ever seen! Check out the details in the custom cake microphone and podium. Larry and Palermo Bakery’s cake made Yahoo Photo of the Day today on Tuesday, November 15th. A fitting image to commemorate such an  astounding career in journalism and TV!
