Miles for Miracles: A Unique Way of Celebrating Thanksgiving

Zoey Penny, a little girl from Verona, is one of 78 children in the world suffering from Progeria. This degenerative condition causes rapid aging in small children, leaving them with a life expectancy of about 13 years of age. Research for Progeria does not have a lot of funding, and there is currently no cure for it.

There are two upcoming events designed to raise money and awareness for Progeria. The “Miles for Miracles” Turkey Trot will take place in Verona Park on Saturday, November 26 at 10:00am, and Palermo’s Bakery is taking part by providing some delicious breakfast goods like donuts, danishes and muffins to the participants. In addition to the “Miles for Miracles” Turkey Trot, Team Zoey is sponsoring a Spin-a-Thon on January 22, 2012.
