Palermo’s Bakery Makes Custom Cake For Boomer Esiason Roast

Last Thursday, January 30th, celebrities, athletes and comedians gathered at the Waldorf Astoria to publicly humiliate the most reviled man in football, Boomer Esiason and we made the cake!

Boomer’s three layer cake was made in orange, black and white fondant symbolizing the colors of the Cincinnati Bengals, the team that Boomer took to the Super Bowl in 1988. The insides are made with butter cream, soft sponge cake and delicious fillings. The top layer is a 3D replica of a Bengal’s helmet, with a beautifully constructed facemask. To top it off, we designed a completely edible headset meant to symbolize Boomer’s current career as a broadcaster and television personality.

Palermo’s Bakery in Ridgefield Park, NJ was especially proud to make this cake for Boomer and the Friars Club Roast because Boomer started a charity to fund research to cure cystic fibrosis, a disorder that affects Mr. Esiason’s son, Gunnar. We are so proud of Boomer and his accomplishments and we thank our good friend, Jules Feiler of the Friars Club for the recommendation.

Among the many public figures and celebrities that attended the roast were N.J. Gov. Chris Christie, Larry King, Dan Rather, Pittsburgh Steeler’s running back Le’Veon Bell, VH1’s Carrie Keagan and comedians Gilbert Gottfried and Jeff Ross.
